Auf ihrem jahrelangen Weg (und der Weg war es letztendlich, der die eigentliche Essenz ihres Traumes war) von Argentinien bis hoch nach Alaska trafen Candelaria & Herman Zapp in Belize eine Maler, dessen Worte mir augenblicklich in den Sinn flattern:
"And it might be difficult to believe, but almost everyone is AFRAID OF FREEDOM, to do what they want and how they want.
We are always striving to fit in, to be within the 'normal' parameters and do things like everyone else. Looking for ways to be busy, to have some obligations, to be an employee with a schedule, to receive orders when we could be our own bosses, [...] don't tie yourself, do those things which can be actually begun and finished in a period of time, don't make them eternal, don't buy on credit because this only enslaves you. Don't accumulate valuable belongings that always make you take care of them or watch out for, because your possessions should be at your service.
Remember the richest one is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least."
Und als würde sich der letzte Satz wie eine unsichtbare Schnur entlang ihrer Route fädeln, sagte bereits ganz zu Beginn ein peruanischer einfacher Mann zu Herman: "If you go lightly, you go freely."
Manchmal scheint es, haben wir, die lang-erzogenen wohlsozialisierten 'Erwachsenen' diesen Kern der Freiheit im Strassengraben entsorgt, so als wäre es ein Zeichen vormoderner Unreife. Die omnipräsente Konsumkultur hat uns ja heute mit ihrem Diktat der schnell-lebigen Akkumulation von Dingen, Bildern, Images fest im Griff.
